Gossip Girl Producers: Return to “Core Dynamics and Characters” in S6

Gossip Girl’s core characters and dynamics will be on display in the CW drama’s sixth and final season this fall, according to executive producers Josh Schwartz and Stephanie Savage.

With show-runner Josh Safran departing to helm Smash Season 2, and producer Sara Goodman elevated to his former role, one can at least hope (if not expect) this will actually be the case.

Schwartz confirms that the 11-episode Gossip Girl Season 6 will focus on a return to the “core dynamics and the core characters” that drew fans to the show in droves at the outset.

Adds Savage of the coming conclusion to the show:

“There are definitely some things we want to see in the Gossip Girl series finale, and we think we have a great opportunity to tell those final stories and honor our characters and honor our fans.”

“We’re all really excited for this final run.”

What about you? Are you excited or apathetic? Do you think the show will redeem itself in its final chapter? What kind of stories are you hoping to see in the sixth season swan song come October?

Gossip Girl S6 Episode Order Still Undecided

Fans know that Gossip Girl will return for its final season next year, but exactly how many episodes is still being debated, CW president Mark Pedowitz told reporters today after the network’s Upfront presentation in New York.

“I haven’t announced anything yet,” he says. “Our goal is to run it in the fall and end it in the fall. We will make a determination on how best to do that [later].” The episode order, which was previously reported as being 11, will depend greatly on the time frame needed, he added. “[The creators] have been great in terms of helping us determine.”

Pedowitz also said the farewell could also include a retrospective. “I’m a big believer that shows that have lasted a long time and shows that have have iconic roles on network should be give closure to the fans in a way that makes sense,” he said.

On the red carpet, executive producer Josh Schwartz seemed keen on the idea of a short final season order, saying, “It’s season 6. A lot of stories have been told. We celebrated our 100th episode this year and all you want is the opportunity to bring the show to a close in a way that’s satisfying for fans. Eleven episodes is the perfect amount, actually,” he said.

Meanwhile, fellow executive producer Stephanie Savage is most looking forward to wrapping up some of the show’s long-running storylines, like the Chuck and Blair saga. “The end of the finale was definitely an import moment for them and that’s something we’re going to build of of in season 6,” she said. “It’s definite bittersweet that the show is coming to an end but it’s also a very exciting storytelling opportunity to know that the choices we make are really going to matter to bring everything to fruition.”

Gossip Girl Season 6 Press Release

MONDAY, 9pm-10pm

Gossip Girl: Season six opens with the Upper East Siders working together to find one of their own.  Serena has gone off the grid, beyond even the reach of Gossip Girl.  Her friends fear for the worst and hope for the best, but even they can’t imagine where they will ultimately find her.  Meanwhile, Blair has offered Chuck her heart, but is her love enough to help him win back his empire?  Lonely Boy Dan has written a new book that promises to make even more trouble than the first, and this time he has no desire to remain anonymous.  Nate is determined to finally reveal the true identity of Gossip Girl, thereby making a name for The Spectator, and himself.  Lily and Rufus turn on one another when Rufus makes a surprising new ally who threatens Lily and her family.  Anywhere else it would be too much drama to handle, but this is the Upper East Side.  And when Bart Bass, Jack Bass and Georgina Sparks show up to raise hell, it’s a fight to the spectacular series finale.  Who comes out on top?  That’s one secret I’ll never tell… xoxo, Gossip Girl.

What do you think about this new time? Season 3 also aired at 10/9c but in terms of ratings the outcomes were similar to these last two years. It’d be hard for me to watch it live now since it will e 3am for me. I’m unlucky I live in Europe. Whatever! Maybe for ten episodes I can make it – someone is rumoring there won’t be 11 anymore, but one less. The CW also wants its shows to start in October so that they won’t have many breaks. It is possible then, that this last season will Premiere on Monday, October 1st. But this is just my supposition. Gossip Girl will definitely end before 2012 ends.

5.24 The Return of the Ring – FASHION

Last time I do the episode fashion post for this season.

The fashion of the episode wasn’t bad for anyone, I have to admit. Blair’s day outfit was well pieced together. The combo skirt/shirt/pumps with the Mulberry and the coat was awesome. She had nuances of the same group of colors and it looked nice. Her night outfit wasn’t my favorite, though.

I didn’t like the updo but I loved the bag and the coat. Her dress in the limo with her mother also had a nice pattern.

The outfit she had at the Casino was probably my favorite of the episode. Loved the make-up, the hair, and the clutch.

Have you noticed how the major pattern for this episode was red/orange/green and pink/lilac/blue? Well, thanks Eric.

What did you think of this season?

It’s that time of the year again. Yesterday aired the finale of a season that I think was promising but it turned out to be annoying and illogical. I expected a lot from it.

The baby storyline and the baby possibly being Chuck’s, the ending of Blouis engagement before the 13th episode, the ending of DB in any possible form… and bla bla bla. Instead I got a baby killed, we got Louis for FOURTEEN episodes and a wedding on the 100th that had to reward fans but instead it make them quit the show; we got DB for SEVEN freaking episodes of boredom and illogical plots that made me think I was watching another show.Plus, they’ve destroyed Blair and Serena to prop what made this show fail. And Blair’s character, what they did to her was unacceptable. But she eventually got back to herself in 5×22 and I think we can say she got back to her old self in this finale.

On the bright side, we got a matured Chuck and Monkey! I loved Monkey. I loved Chuck this season. I loved the friendship between Nate and Chuck. I love Chuck wanting to take his responsibilities.

The nice things weren’t enough to fix the bs that has been this season. Poor writing, lame plots, illogical characterization. I didn’t hate it but I didn’t love it either. I can only save few episodes: 5×03 and the last C&B scene that makes Chuck feel again; 5×06 and the amazing apology at the end with “Video Games” in the background; 5×09 “The lightest thing that ever came into my life”; 5×10 and Chuck wanting to raise Blair’s baby; 5×22 and the NJBC and the old, classic Blair and the old Chuck and Blair subtle banter. The finale was also nice, but I’m not sure if I want to put it in this list. The C&B scenes didn’t disappoint, and I’m glad we finally got our final choice and hope for next season.

The rest is not relevant to me. In comparison, S4 was better.

And you, what did you think?
