“Life Partners” various set pictures

As I wrote a few weeks ago, Leighton is currently filming a movie with Adam Brody and Gillian Jacobs called Life Partners. Luckily for us, the crew and actors are taking selfies to show us how the shooting is going… you can see some pictures below this text, hopefully they’ll shoot outside more and we’ll get HQs. :)

Ed joins “Bone in the Throat”

Ed Westwick will play the lead in the film adaptation of Anthony Bourdain’s foodie noir thriller novel Bone In The Throat. Burn Gorman (The Dark Knight Rises, Revenge) and Liam Cunningham (Game Of Thrones) have also joined the cast of the film to be helmed by commercials director Graham Henman in his feature debut. He co-wrote the screenplay with Mark Townend. Lenny Beckerman and Peter Heslop are producing the story of a sous-chef at the hottest restaurant in London’s East End who becomes embroiled in his uncle’s underground mob activity when he witnesses him commit a murder. Executive producer Maggie Monteith of Dignity Film Finance is backing the picture set to shoot in London in the fall. Westwick is repped by Michael Hallett at Emptage Hallet. Cunningham and Gorman are repped by Management 360 and the UK’s Independent Talent.

New movie for Leighton, “Life Partners”

Leighton has a new movie in store, which is called “Life Partners” and is directed by Susanna Fogel. Adam Brody and Gillian Jacobs (Community) also star in the movie that will be filmed in LA. Filming started this week, so check OLV to see if there are any outdoors locations to watch them film the movie. This is what we know about the movie:

“A straight girl drunkenly promises her lesbian best friend she won’t get married until gay marriage is legal – a promise that becomes awkward when her boyfriend proposes and her friend remains a slacker who’s years away from even thinking about marriage.”

Leighton joins Robert Downey Jr. in ‘The Judge’

Gossip Girl star Leighton Meester has joined Robert Downey Jr. in The Judge, the Warner Bros. dramedy being directed by David Dobkin.

Meester joins a cast the includes Robert Duvall, Vera Farmiga, Vincent D’Onofrio, Dax Shepard and Billy Bob Thornton.

Judge is a co-production between Team Downey and Big Kid Pictures, and a Boston shoot beginning in June is being eyed.

Downey stars as a successful attorney who returns to his hometown for his mother’s funeral to discover that his estranged father (Robert Duvall), the town’s judge, is suspected of murder. The man sets out to discover the truth, and along the way, reconnects with the family he walked away from years before.

Meester will play a character with whom Downey has a one-night stand and whose later revelations cause quite a bit of headaches for the man.

Judge is Meester’s first major move since wrapping Gossip Girl, which ran for six seasons on the CW. In that time, she appeared in such movies as Date Night, Country Strong, The Oranges and That’s My Boy.

Leighton and Ben Barnes in “God Only Knows”

Ben-Barnes-and-Leighton-Meester-in-the-Morning

What I find interesting about this moment beyond the sheer beauty of the frame is the quiet intensity of the players; Leighton turned away, the light of morning announcing her strong presence even in its dream-state, and Ben closer near the bottom of the shot — compressed — as if he is deciding whether he should turn towards her or slip out and disappear —  a true moment caught in time — or maybe many other things in both their minds that even the director doesn’t know! But the audience has a sense, each person maybe seeing or feeling something different and singular to them!

A picture says a thousand words but 24 pictures per second tells story after story after story and that’s why film is magical. Every face, every expression, every scene relays tens, maybe hundreds of thousands of little stories, fables, histories of the invented characters but told through the hearts of the real performers; countless emotions and experiences, real and created, banging into each other and reforming and coming back out to an audience like a cinematic atom smasher; hopefully giving people a feeling of something brand new and thrilling, but familiar in its humanity; and something that becomes part of their atomic make-up temporarily or maybe even forever if we’re lucky. That’s how movies can be important — they can change your chemistry!

Speaking of chemistry, these two actors together have got it like a science experiment gone awry. Kaboom! Gorgeous.

  • « You know, sometimes love needs to face obstacles to become stronger. People need to be tore apart from each other and say goodbye. The only thing to do then, is move on, and start over. If that love was really meant to be, it would come back, stronger than before. True love always wins against the things that want it's death. »
